Check out these educational apps that will not only keep students entertained, but also allow them to continue learning during the summer break.

  1.  Algebra Quiz Game: Available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, this $0.99 app improves students’ knowledge of pre-algebra and algebra through fun and engaging games.
  2. Buzzmath Middle School: This free app allows iPad users to test their knowledge of middle school math topics ranging from fractions and decimals to graphs and probability.
  3. 5 Dice: Order of Operations Game: This free app is compatible with with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Created for third- to eighth-grade students, this app includes a variety of number games, a printable resource packet and progress reports that can be sent to teachers and parents via email.
  4. Fit Brains Trainer: Available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, this free app will challenge students in all grade levels. Including over 360 games, this app enhances memory, processing speed, concentration, problem solving and visual skills.
  5. Grammar Pop HD: This $1.99 app will make iPad users of all ages love grammar. The challenges start simple with nouns and verbs, but they get progressively harder with questions about gerunds and participles.
  6. History Line: Available for the iPad, this free, multi-player app tests students’ knowledge of historical events using a fun, interactive timeline.
  7. iTooch Elementary School: This free app is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It includes math, language arts and science games that both challenge and educate children from first through fifth grade.
  8. Jack and the Beanstalk a Mathematical Adventure: For $2.99, iPad users from kindergarten to third grade can enhance their math skills with this app and the printable resource packet that is included.
  9. Jamblo: This free app allows iPad users to improve their spelling by unscrambling words and phrases. Users can even create their own phrases and challenge a friend.
  10. Kids Quiz: This $2.99 app allows students to answer trivia questions about a variety of topics including space, nature and history, and even challenge other players. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
  11. Lumosity Mobile: Available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, this free app is great for all grade levels. Designed by neuroscientists, this app improves memory and attention span while teaching students how to multitask.
  12. Math Bingo: This $0.99 app, featured in the New York Times, allows students ages six through eight to practice basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division while having fun and beating levels. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
  13. Mathmateer: Compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, this free app is a perfect math tool for children ages nine through 11. Recognized by Children’s Technology Review, this app includes several missions in which students have to answer questions ranging from even and odd numbers to square roots.
  14. Numbler — Math Game: For $1.99, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users can complete several number puzzle games. Great for all ages, this app uses a word game format, but challenges users to complete the puzzles using only numbers.
  15. Race Arithmetic: Available for the iPad, this $1.99 app helps improve multiplication skills by allowing students to set a multiplication range and a personal time limit. As their skills improve, users can decrease their personal time limit to beat their high score.
  16. SAT Vocab: This free app is available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It is the perfect vocabulary tool for students in grades nine through twelve, using nine unique games.
  17. Smash your Food (HD): Available for iPad users, this $2.99 app will teach students about nutrition. Players guess the nutritional information of different junk foods, and each time they guess wrong, the junk food is smashed.
  18. Spelling City: This free app is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. With eight different games, this spelling app is perfect for all grade levels.
  19. Solvr: Available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, this free app challenges users of all ages to reach a target number by adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing the numbers given.
  20. The Grading Game: This $0.99 app is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod users. With this app, students have the opportunity to become the teacher and go crazy with a red pen. The more grammar and spelling errors they find, the higher their score.
